These seven metrics are the analytical dimensions Iran Ideoscope uses to map political orientation. Each metric describes a distinct scored axis of political thought and is interpreted on a 0-10 scale.

Political Pluralism

Primary focus: Legal political competition and realistic transfer of power

Secularism

Cultural Liberalism

Scale 0-10

Primary focus: Lifestyle freedom and private life with limited state intrusion

Economic Redistribution

Scale 0-10

Primary focus: Reducing inequality through taxation and social provision

Market Liberalization

Primary focus: Preference for private ownership and market competition in competitive sectors

International Engagement

Primary focus: Preference for diplomacy and institutional cooperation over isolation

Decentralization

Scale 0-10

Primary focus: Devolving administrative and political authority to local levels

Primary focus: devolving administrative and political authority to provinces and local institutions. Secondary coverage: local budget authority and less concentration of decision-making in the capital.

What do metrics do?

Metrics are not identity labels or value judgements. They are conceptual axes used to design the questionnaire and interpret results. The current public set is a pilot framework that makes the test structure explicit while leaving room for later validation and revision.
